London Artists in Vauxhall | Art Car Boot Fair

Today my friend Yael and I took a trip down to The Art Car Boot Fair which used to be near Brick Lane but is now in Vauxhall near Damien Hirst's  Newport Street Gallery. The ACBF has been running since 2004 and is exactly what it says on the tin- a car boot sale from artists selling their stuff directly to the public.

It is so popular that some people had even camped out the night before to get in first. The queue was around 3 blocks and must have been at least 300 people deep at any given time. We queued for just over an hour to get in and it was well worth the wait. It was a massive warehouse with an outside section and artists themselves had set up their stalls in a car boot fashion. There was some big names there such as Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk and Charming Baker, as well as a lot of emerging and up and coming artists.

I bought a Sebastian Horsly mug from my photographer friend Carla Boral who shoots beautiful black and white photography from mainly around Soho.

It was such a great day and it really has inspired me.
